About Tom Collins…
Dr. R. Tom Collins, MD, MS, is a leadership scholar, physician, and educator based at the University of Kentucky. His clinical background is in pediatric cardiology, and alongside his medical work he has developed a strong research and practice interest in leadership. He earned a Master’s degree in Leadership (from The Citadel) while also working toward educational leadership research at University of Kentucky.

Dr. Collins is well known for his project where he interviewed 51 four-star generals and admirals to distill scientifically-derived leadership principles. This research underpins his upcoming book The Four Stars of Leadership, which highlights four key dimensions of effective leadership: character, competence, caring, and communication.

He is also the host of The Science of Leadership podcast, where he brings together scientific research and real-world leadership stories to help listeners build their leadership capabilities.
